Choose a bedroom mural around your headboard, image crop and colour scheme: forests, flowers and coastal landscapes.
Position the view above the bed
Mark the mattress, headboard and bedside-table heights on a straight-on photo. For a lake or beach, check that the horizon will not disappear behind the bed. A forest without a single focal point can offer more cropping flexibility.
Choose scale and contrast
Large blooms become a focal point; fine branches create a quieter backdrop. Compare the image colours with your bedding and existing wood tones. Screen colours can differ from the print, so discuss any colour details essential to your scheme.
Measure the full wall
Measure width and height in several places and use the largest measurements. Do not subtract the area hidden by the bed. The 2 in cutting allowance per dimension is added automatically; do not add it twice.

Practical questions
Should I cover the whole wall behind the bed?
Plan for the whole wall or a defined area. Measure the surface you want to cover and review the crop at that width, rather than using only the bed width.
